I drive up and down the 401 daily and rarely see any challenger trucks. The ones I do see are challenger trailers being pulled by owner operators. When I worked at challenger in 2018, I use to bump into drivers every hour or so on the interstates. Now I rarely see them out on the road.
Did they layoff drivers or something? They used to be everywhere, now I barely see them.
What ever happened to challenger?

FastFrate bought them a few years ago and must have made some changes.
Hardly see them in Western Canada anymore. Prior to being bought out, they ran West a fair bit.
@liner maybe knows what’s going on there.Canadianhauler21 Thanks this. -
That’s a good question i did pass one on the 401 near Ayr last week but you don’t see them like you use to . they were bought out by FastFrate and i’ve been told they parked a whole bunch of trucks because it was so slow . I heard that a year or so ago though so you would hope those parked trucks are on the road now
I’ll tell you one thing FastFrate runs some real junky looking equipment from what i see . It’s mostly old pro stars from Bruce R smith that they acquired years ago. I’m pretty sure FastFrate is union tooCanadianhauler21 Thanks this. -
I retired from CMF over 3 years ago now but I heard that they downsized some time ago and got rid of around 200 trucks. They were only hiring O/O's for a while but have recently started hiring company drivers again. They still have large terminals in BC and PQ. I know Fastfrate drivers and wharehouse staff are union in some of the western provinces but not sure about Ontario.
Canadianhauler21 and jcatel Thank this. -
I rarely see charger out on the 401 either. Back in 2020, it seemed like every other truck was a charger truck.Magoo1968 Thanks this.
