Not too many people in retail.
We made some book purchasing today of books that were selling for as low as 10 cents as a author in his situation is getting out of the books for one reason or another, not writing anymore so one of us scooped up a bunch. I managed to get some music shipped for the organ, whatever that's worth below retail. But retail is strictly food.
The Law and Fire was at the store today and they were grilling burgers for the people who donate toys to the local area kids who will need to have a christmas for one reason or another. Its not Toys for tots in the USMC but it is same spirit of giving. The bins were getting pretty full and the Law and Fire were... fired up over the day's success. Not chasing bad guys so they were happy.
Thats the one big difference between the east coast near DC and here. You can call the law and have a talking out of something whatever before it gets bad. In the east they just mob you and drag you to the klink. So there has been times in the past they have helped us. Medically or otherwise. Even trained with them in Searcy as well.
What with the food store getting wiped out I think there is a lot of cooking going on, we got some soup fixings in a big pot for tomorrow. No meat for the weekend. Just some old time Scot/German hybrid cabbage soup with a number of fixings out of the produce line. Yakima Onions and so on. IF you waited on it 6 months you would have seasoned sauerkraut. Just like the old times long gone.
Watch a livePD show a short time ago they broadcast a rocky double bulk tanker in the west weaving between lanes more or less after taking out his boss's north yard gate post. Got corraled, came out the pax door bouncing and stumbling. Stumbled again over a 3 inch step over onto pavement behind the truck. Failed the DUI 9 step walk with more stumbling. Turns out he was taking too many prescription pills medicine that was prescribed. (Figures he got a letter from HIS doc who probably is NOT going to be HAPPY over this...) so they tossed him into the back of the car CDL is going to be lost (Revoked) poor guy, working too many hours, unshaven etc. Cannot feel too badly.
Ive had a different routine tonight and am out of sorts. But alls well. That soup is going to be something come the dawn. Going to take both households to stove the thing and two crockpots. We expect storms for a outbreak in Arkansas and my family is battening down for a nor-easter in the Gettysburg-Baltimore area in Maryland and PA. THAT is going to pile some snow for them and maybe up to 18 inches between Binghampton and Boston. (Wheee...)
Just a collection of a day tonight. Thank god thats over. Computer is stabilized. Again. Tossed a new spare drive into the case and started throwing motherboard and whatever parts in the closet box into the motherboard until I have enough to boot to windows by Monday. It's going to be a real frankenbox. Ugh. I like have 5 cpus sitting in a drawer. Two are dual cores, three are 4 cores. 2 have bent pins all over and the others have had too much heat. It will be interesting swapping them out until one will boot. A real shade tree kit.RidgeRunner731, D.Tibbitt, kemosabi49 and 3 others Thank this. -
