Useta be one of my regular lanes.

Good Chinese buffet place at the top of the hill.

The truck was usually between 78,900 and 79,780 going through there.

Speed limit for trucks is 45 posted. I used to go 30 to 35. Heard a lot of #### from the three-tooth-and-mullet crowd, flying downhill at 65 mph.

Saw a lot of smoking brakes.

And every so often, TSP would have a car parked in the brake inspection pullout to chase down drivers who didn't stop.

They also occasionally parked 3 or 4 cruisers at the foot of the hill to pick off the yokels flying down the hill.

"Hope you're making good ROI on that 10,000 pounds of rubber dog ####, Billy...
    Hyul, hyul, hyul!!"

Musta been a real "tweed-sucker" back in the two-lane US 41 days.

Nowadays, it's not too bad if you're properly set up before you start down. I guess that's the key to any big downgrade.

I think the biggest problem is the "Well, it ain't Cabbage" crowd speeding downhill.

But nobody asked me, so I'll shut up now.....

Monteagle TN was referenced in the post I quoted.

I ran Monteagle frequently. That's where the Chinese buffet is.

Never been down Cabbage. I stay east of the Rockies.....at least, I USED to.

    Sorry for the confusion.

Casper had the cold weather set up. The fuel water separator had a heating element in it, and when I turned on the bunk heater, it would start the APU, and keep the block water temp at around 140F.

The kitchen technically isn't supposed to open for awhile yet, but we might make some fried potatoes to try some of Opus's Gucci hot sauce.
