Me too. Sounds like he may have flown for the Arkansas contingent on weekends....
Wonder if it is on Kindle Unlimited, my mainstay?

Well, Roger........It COULD be a "cob job" for an emergency implement install.

But it's not. It is something I recognize.
Although this one seems to be commercially produced.

In 1981 when I joined the Coast Guard, they hadn't yet figured out how to handle marijuana use by service members. The cold, hard, "piss-test-hot-and-get-the-Big-Chicken-Dinner" regulation would not take effect until late 1982/early 1983.

The pictured device is a pipe for the smoking of weed or hash.

Entrepreneurial members of the engineering department would build these and sell them for a buck.

It could be disassembled and hidden piece by piece in various spaces (the paint locker was a popular choice) to avoid being caught in possession during a locker inspection, or it could be cast overboard in one piece in an emergency ( i.e. the Chief of the Watch was heading toward the fantail).

At least, that's what I heard.......from, y'know, guys who were into that sort of thing........

Elizabeth is doing the news. She needs to let me help her with her hair and wardrobe. I’m no fashion maven but I could make improvements.

Well, knowledge from the source. I was wondering about fittings coming now in blue steel, vs the basic chrome. Thanks, man.

I'm at the first indigenous receiver. This forklift dude says they typically start at 0600.

Sign says 0700. BOL says 0800.

Hoping for 0600 so's that moar R0I can be generated in the allotted time.
