What is it with reefers parking next to us flatbedders?

I never have understood why anyone in this business expects peace and quiet. Personally reefers put me to sleep, but my favorite (but hard to find) is bull haulers. Something about the stomping hooves and sweet smell is like hypnosis. The only problem is they never stop long enough for my ten hour break.

Sometimes there isnt enough truck in the right hand mirror. That means his left corner is about to be crushed by your right trailer tandems in the dark. I had 5 drivers sit on the bench intently looking at my tailgate...

? wtf is with them, 5 pairs of eyes intently eyeing my trailer as if they all had big money bets or something riding on it.

Light bulb hop out and look. Find me a pete a foot from my doors inside my right wheel path.

Ive been trying to line up on his left hand lights which did not show well into my blind mirror. so that went well. Just move everything over 18 inches and it's all good.

They wont either. The buyers want that at the plant.

A reefer is a ultimate z generator. One night in Grand Junction I had one fail in the high range where it's been singing for months. First it began to shriek. then cough. Some of you laugh but when the cooling side fails like that you pretty much need to find a reefer fixit big enough to tear into something that major. Fortunately it was 50 outside and raining for the 70 run colder than that up top the mountains that night. My set temp was 45. So it worked out with no damage.

Dispatch gave me two choices Salt Lake City or Denver, which is it? Denver Pronto.

It's something else. I had to shut it off. People were laughing at me because it was essentially God coughing, it was so loud.

If you’re ever in a parking lot and you hear the guy advertising “commercial buffalo” or breakfast sausage, it’s usually THAT reefer.

I did notice the replies from all the reefer drivers. I pulled a reefer for a year and then got smart and moved to flatbed.
I just happen to be sitting in a near empty spot today because I am attempting to get home to Florida from Indiana. Otherwise, I would be loaded and headed west, or north.

So is being a homo. Doesn’t mean it’s something to brag about.

I make it a point to park way out in the back of the lot so no one parks next to me. Falling asleep has always been a battle, and noise makes it much worse. Even with earplugs the vibration gets to me. It seems pretty obvious when there’s flat parked out all by himself way out in the vacant part of the lot that he wants quiet.

    Yet somehow they find me.

Refers, trucks with bad fan belts, and old worn out hood trucks with big shiny 10” stacks that like to idle all night. I have legitimately changed spots, or went to a different lot in the middle of the night. I’ve been showering at a truck stop then driving to a different place to park recently. Parking at the receiver is my favorites.

I’ve lucked out recently, and had really great quiet spots in big lots in industrial areas that are shut down at night. The best one recently was right next to the Boise river in eastern Boise, ID. Open lot, no traffic, river running 100 feet from my window. One of the best nights rest I’ve had in years. When the fridge is the loudest sound to deal with it’s a good day.
