What is the demand for truck drivers right now, during the pandemic? Are they hiring?

No. 10 Beef plants are closing, several Pork and Chicken plants are closing as well. Only have a few dozen major plants in the USA, thousands of workers in each one. Outbreak of Covid strikes they must close.

Unfortunately we are down to about 10 days pork which is sold to big box only. All others will be out. Three weeks of beef and we have enough chicken for about 3 pounds in every pot in the USA.

Call it three weeks.

The only trucks left running are essential. The rest are parked. This is like a historically REALLY BAD time for everyone. Worse than WW2 ration stamps where you get 48 points a week, a can of cambells cost you 6 points. A steak 18. And the ABC cars, 10 gallons a month on A cars only. Non essential to war effort.

We are probably looking at economic losses as part of the greatest in our history exceeding that of the depression and dating almost all the way back to 1784 which is used as the model fo what happend to Americans in existential threats.

They are hiring, but be prepared to wait for loads, because there is little freight, some are shutting down because of low rates and no freight.

They’re still killing hogs and cattle. He tends to overdramatize everything.

There are plenty of “non-essential” loads moving. Companies may be slow to hire simply because of orientation and having groups of people. But I’d say you should be able to find a job if you shake enough trees.

 

Well i am busier than bee hive and pull non essential flatbed freight. Still lots of freight out here if ur willing to go looking for it. Truck drivers are always in demand , dont listen to the bs
