I've often wondered what the mental state of a driver is while parked at the Vince Lombardi stop on the NJ Turnpike. Does it mean that you are planning the nightmare cross of the GWB and driving through Manhattan or the Bronx...Perhaps you just arrived there after driving through the mean streets on NYC and are decompressing from that stressful event. What is the typical mental state of a driiver that pulls into that rest area?

It all depends on whether I'm going north or south. Many years ago I delivered multiple stops of new furniture to NYC on a regular basis, and really didn't mind it much, except for the lack of truck stops. -
If I was there, it was just hanging out after delivering my load, waiting to find out my next load. Stressing out?? No, just take it easy and be careful. Been across the GW many times, never delivered to any of the boroughs, delivered in NJ a lot.

Any time your within a hundred miles of NYC your mostly concern with where your going. Routing in and out, traffic flow, timing, that sort of thing. NYC isn't really scary, just inconvenient, busy and crowded. Real rest comes farther out. (at least for me) The Lombardi is used only as a light convenience, stopping there means you forgot something or you are waiting just a bit for you planned time window. Also, anyone who plans to spend much time there may as well plan to be disappointed. There will never be enough parking and counting on getting a parking spot morning, noon or night is a crap shoot.

I frequently work in and out of new york and havent been to Lombardi since I discovered the truck-tractor-trailer parking in Manhatan. Check it out its on east 125th street between 2nd - 3rd ave. I dont know the name but I can find the number if your interested. its about 40 dollars to leave the truck for the night.
