Pretty sure that means that a pin covertly stuck through the coax will fry the radios

It does! I am sure an electronics person can tell the exact reason, but shorting out the unit's output amp will fry it! I'm not sure, but I don't think this will work on today's more expensive CBs. That circuit is protected. Again, I'm sure someone will come along that knows more than I do.

Do people break into trucks to steal cb’s anymore? Had a nice old style mic out the side Cobra 29 that was passed down to me stolen out of the truck back in 2003. Since that time I haven’t heard of it happening much anymore.
Seems like 2003-05 was the time cb started to die. That was around the time when personal cell phones and services became affordable for everyone. They were mostly a company supplied to an employee tool before then.

It was a multi-year process for me. Depended on the time of day and where I was. However, by 2006 I hardly ever had mine on. As far as breaking into trucks, yes, they do. They just switched from CBs to other things. A guy I know had his broken into. He still thinks someone used a key to unlock his Freightliner. They made off with his laptop, game console, and his cooler. I think they also got a few bucks out of his ashtray.

I still use it problem is I always have the squelch maxed out because I’m tired of “radio man” truckers constantly spouting the same old bs. “Aww trucking ain’t the same no more....#### steering wheel holders......I’ll kick your ###....I ain’t got no panties on” and they’re always negative always down talking another trucker. I have my own problems in life I don’t need your negative mojo making it worse.

I just put a CB on the dash , it alerts the thieves that there isn't anything of value worth stealing in this truck .
