What are some factors involved in the decision when selecting a company?

    If it fits my needs.

It is a broad question that can't be answered.

    Why are you asking?

I own my truck, and I own my company. That's the only way to do it, if you're serious.

    qatrucking Thanks this.

But what is it that a company can offer you to make you want to join their team?

Lots of good paying freight out of good shippers going to good receivers. And we all have our own ideas on what good is. So, good luck!

    OK ...

first is provide proof of stability, I have to be told that "oh we had to pay the bills and you will have to wait". So plenty of cash to cover 6 months of paying owners.

Second is a track record of working freight lanes, I get this all the time "come put some trucks on with my carrier I will make you money?" Really? what freight lanes do you use? "ah ... freight lanes? I bid on loads"

Third is really simple, a good contract that benefits both of us.

Fourth and most important 80% - 90% of the gross BILLABLE revenue plus 100% of the FSC. This is beside a fixed accessorial fee schedule. I don't give a crap what a broker gives you, to get me to hand unload the trailer is a fixed rate for my labor, it isn't free and I won't eat the cost.

There are a lot more but these are the big four.
