What options do I have? 2nd post - Forgot to mention that I have autism

Are you saying you have autism to justify making decisions that are clearly stupid? what does autism have to do with your inability to successfully meet a low goal?


So we’re clear- if strangers on the internet don’t tell you to be a trucker you’ll quit your job and be homeless?

They didn’t call that autism when I went to school.

 

You seem fairly intent on having homeless be an option. I've been homeless. Do it. Go camp all summer and blow through your savings. I give you permission. Just don't make terrible irreversible decisions. Homeless is a reversible decision. Go hang out at the beach all summer and find a spot to hide at night. Plenty of people do it.

People sure seem to make their own problems these days, we didn't know anything about being "artistic" either get confident, stupid. We found out later that wasn't the best course of action. I find it incredibly difficult to hear someone has been out of work for a year. In my town, businesses are BEGGING for workers, and $20+/hour WITH benefits. Every aspect of work is looking for help. Now, we can't really blame this person, this is an informational site, but it goes back to the same old thing, "oh well, if all else fails, I can always drive a truck",,,and there was a time when that was true, but with a situation like this persons, its more problems than solutions. It's as if these people talk about doing the right thing, but this person has no idea what lie ahead. Quite frankly, I hope they get something, but please stay out of a truck.

 

Right after COVID restrictions were lifted I said F it and went to Mexico for a year. I lived in a different city every month. Loved it. Different Airbnb every month. When you book a full month a lot of places give you a steep discount. It was awesome. I probably wouldn't do a year again, that was a little too long, but I'd definitely do it again. Your passport keeps you legal for 6 months at a time. I took one flight back to visit my dad at 6 months, mainly to get another stamp, and zero paperwork required. Go do that. Get in amazing shape. Work on your health. Write a book. Start a YouTube channel. Become an AI master. Whatever. Enjoy what's left of your youth before father time forces your hand for you. Who cares. Nobody cares, that's who.

 

Right now, stick to what you are doing. Trucking is not a safety net for ANYONE. It is no longer stable thanks to the idiots in this industry.

Only for a few, a safety net will work, but when you try to get into a truck to have a place to live, you are expecting someone to hand you a $150,000 truck to take care of, to live in without bringing any experience or knowledge to the work, you just need to stick to things you know.

what puzzles me with this idea is coming from, with the number of employment gaps in a lot of other industries, where companies are handing out bonuses for someone staying 6 months.

So no to trucking, stick to what you know or start applying to local jobs.

 

Another driver on here has "high-functioning" autism and acquired a CDL.
There's different levels of autism.

I have never seen the job that pays $70k, that would be worse than living in filth, smelling like arse, booty itching cuz you can’t wipe…etc.

“But Six, my personality doesn’t mesh with inmates….”

You weren’t fired, so apparently you do the job they need you to do. What’s the real reason you want to be homeless?
