I have an international lt625. This is the first one I drove. I came from Freightliner which has a grab bar to the left of the steering wheel which was perfect for clamping my phone holder to and having within reach. I was able to touch my phone with one finger while keeping my hand on the steering wheel. The international doesn’t have that so I’ve been using a cup holder phone mount to the right of the steering wheel which I have to look down and reach over to touch if I have to answer a call or pull back up my GPS if it crashes. What options do I have? I planned on seeing if I could get an aftermarket metal grab bar installed but the couple places I called acted as if they couldn’t do it. There is a cup holder on the door but I can’t find a phone mount long enough. I’m not a fan of the windshield phone mounts, I would want to phone to be on the side of the steering wheel. Not too high. Any DIY of phone holders I can get in store? I don’t want to have to get anything shipped.
What options do I have? DIY?

If you absolutely want it on your left side, that flat area below the window sitch would except a ram ball, take the door apart and check out the switches, I am guessing that there would be enough room to finagle a ram ball mounted in there. If it's not your truck and you can't drill holes in it, you probably need to go to a windshield mount. I have ram balls mounted in like 4 different spots between my dash, and the headliner. Ram Mount is the only phone mount I have found to hold up the abuse a truck puts them through. I have my tablet and my phone both on ram mounts within easy reach when I am driving.

Looking closer at the pic again, that flat area above the vent on your dash would probably take a ram ball also and you could position the phone to be off to the left. It would be in the way of either that vent or the defrost vent and partially block one of them.

I definitely want it to the left of the steering wheel. Makes it easier so the company I work for dashcam doesn’t go off. I do own the truck though so I can drill holes. I keep hearing about RAM ball mounts but they’re impossible to find in stores. I’ve looked at several Walmarts and haven’t seen them. So I would have to buy a ram ball, a ram arm and what specific phone mount do you use?

Panavise, on Ebay. Lots of various mounts that work with their phone holder.xzmpt Thanks this.

I like my stuff close the power supply so I didn't have wires strung across the steering wheel.

that’s one reason why I have the gps with the built in dash cam, I hate clutter, phone usually just stays in the cup holder

Go to the ram mount website. You can look at all the different mounts and see what works best for you. You can order directly from them. They are expensive but they hold up well.

This is the one I use in my freightliner. I use the sticker pad and the "windshield mount" attached to it. You may be able to fit this set up above your mirror controls on you door panel.
