I'm trying to figure a route to go from Williamsport PA to Whitehall PA

Google Maps shows me a route that is almost a straight line but I want to make sure that I can get through there by truck. Route 209 somewhere is restricted and I don't travel through there often enough to know exactly where that begins and ends. I just remember somewhere it's restricted.

15 to 80 East to 93 to 81 South to exit 141 Route 424 and there you pick up 93 again

Take that to 209 to 248 East to145 south and that takes you to Whitehall.

Will that route work for a truck? If not any suggestions?

No trucks north of the Water Gap through the National Recreation area...The old Ho Chi Min trail up to I 84

You could take 81 south and I78 east to Whitehall Rt 145 is the 7th Street exit in Allentown going north

Might I suggest never using Google maps for truck routing. We've lost enough bridges already.

Are you trying to avoid the toll road if so there are a couple of options if it was me I would run 80 east up to 33 south to 22 west. Or 80 east to 81 south to 61 south to 78 east to 22 east. Your pick. I wouldn't run 209 taking you through the back roads. I prefer 80E to 33S to 22W

You'll be fine with the Google directions. 209 is restricted, but not where you'll be. You're only on 209 about 3/4 mile.

I've never been on 424 or that stretch of 93, so I don't know what you'd find there. 248 and 145 are good roads, just bumpy, I travel them almost daily.

I don't know where in Whitehall you may be going, but one thing to keep in mind is if you would happen to be taking 329 east from 145, there's a restricted bridge on 329 between Whitehall and Northampton.

I was wondering with a better route is because when you go 81 South you're kind of going west to go down to 78 to come back east. I could get down 309 we're 61 off of 81 to cut me through 278 but it's kind of a battle between do you take the highway or do you take the Moore country roads. This late is pretty late so I probably could come down 309 I guess

And when I come through there that's the thing I wonder is it really better to take 80 all the way out to 33 or is it better to come down 81 to 78 where to cut through 81 down 309 so you're further up 78

I am going to Commerce Drive.

You probably know the best way because you travel through there all the time.

Well I use it for General routing. I know these areas that I travel pretty well, but sometimes a little help is helpful.

I dunno if I'd say it's the best way. But it can definitely be done.

I stand corrected in what I said about only being on 209 for 3/4 mile. You're actually on 209 a bit further. Coming off 93 onto 209 takes you through Jim Thorpe. That can be a pain at certain times of day, (it's windy and tight through town) and there's a pretty good pull coming out of town. If you're heavy, I'd recommend running 81 south to 309 to Tamaqua, picking up 443 east. Run that to 209. It's all flat across 443.

20210224_154651.jpg For furure reference US 209 is restricted from just south of the intersection of US 206 in Milford, PA (toll bridge from NJ) to the intersection of Bushkill Falls Road in Bushkill, PA in both directions (north and south). See image for roughly where as marked by the two small red dots.

This is actually a pretty light load. #20,000.

Do you think that's better than staying on 309 to 22?
