I am sure this has probably been asked and answered 100 or more different ways but what kinds of tools should you have with you on the truck if you are a company driver? What about if you are a lease or O/O? These are things beyond the stuff you are supposed to have like reflective triangles, fire extinguishers, extra fuses type of thing.
I carry the following things:
Road Atlas, the Rand Mcnally laminated version.
Truck stop guide, small pocket sized version
2 pairs of work gloves, a cold weather pair, and a warm weather pair.
Can of WD-40
pressure gauge
depth gauge
tire thumper
road pro set of hand tools, assortment of pliers, screw drivers, and socket driver bits essentially.
What am I missing?
What tools and gear should you get to be prepared on the road?

Duct tape
Electrical tape
Wire and butt connectors
Bailing wire, coat hangers are garbage
Filter wrench
Two long tools, I had a super long big screwdriver and a long crescent wrench, for peeling off blown tires on outer wheels to single them out.
Big F'n Hammer for beating frozen brakes
Spare fuel filter(s)
Spare headlight and other bulbsRaven_Whitefox Thanks this. -
Also, a box end wrench to fit the cage bolt on the air chamber so you can release the spring brake if needed. A socket won't reach far enough onto the bolt to work.
A micro torch to unfreeze brakes if iced up. -
doesn't the company have to pay for some of that like light head lights and fuel filters and things like that ?
-
Air hose for low tires, and I have found that a set of larger wrenches is a blessing. Air line antifreeze and a flashlight .
-
Don't forget a crowbar. I found putting a crowbar against frozen brakes and hitting it is a hundred times easier than beating on the drum.
-
And don't forget a large empty bottle with a screw on lid that won't leak if you do leak.
-
A folding campers shovel and a bag of rock salt in case you get stuck or can't pull away from the dock because of ice.
-
Gotta have vice grips for those fabulous trailers that the handle won't stay in place when you have to move tandems.
