I no thats a loaded question and the answer depends on tons of stuff. But i'm just looking for a avg pulling a dry van.
I am a mover and this is our slow part of the year. My next door nieghbor has 5 trucks and one just became empty.
He asked me if I was interested in driving it during the winter, when i'm available in between my moving loads untill he finds a full time driver.
Now the tricky part, he can pay me per mile or percentage. He can hire me as a company driver and take taxes etc.. Or just give my company (i'm a s corp) a 1099 or my favorite which i doubt he will do pay me below the table.

WOW grown men work that cheap?????????
How do they pay the bills and feed the family?
My lumpers make more than that, and sleep in there own bed. Instead of some piss smelling truck stop parking lot.
$7per hour comes out to what $70 to $105 a day per day, or $359 to $735 per week
    .24 to .36cpm comes out to $600 to $900 a week for a 2500 mi week
Come on that cant be right?!

no that is pretty close to right from what I gather from other drivers and looking at the driver books. depending on experience, .30-.37 cpm is about right for dry van co driver with a few years exp.

ok if thats right its right. I guess that why i have been an o/o for the past 2 decades.
I just cant help but wonder how these guys pay the bills and feed the family. Wife must be working or that explains why there is always someone selling something fuel, tv's, cb's, etc.. every monday.

I like the per hour idea, dont like the $12-15 part. $20-25 is more like. Guess thats why i'm o/o in the bed bug "bizness"
Any hoo hourly aint gonna happen.
So realistically it comes down to mileage or percentage at what rate?

Oh did I mention its New England reigional
Lots of maine to philly amd everywhere in between with heavy loads.
But since its his fuel and toll's i dont care where it goes.
Loads avg $1.65 to the truck. I say avg cause it's cheap down and decent back up.
