The best tablet is nexus 7 2012, WiFi or 3g does not matter.I have been using WiFi only models myself. Newer tablets including Nexus 2013 and Galaxy tablets have higher screen resolution, which leads to copilot font looking very small, so if you have tablet on windshield, you won't be able to read it well. I bought few Nexus 7 from this guy, he advertises them as used, but they come new just without original box.
Edit: can't post link on my phone, but the seller's eBay name is Techreplay

In my Volvo I have now this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Exogear-Exo...-Cradle-iPad-Mini-other-Tablets-/161509800758
    IMG_20150424_201210[1].jpg

before I used something like this http://www.amazon.com/Charger-City-...&sr=8-6&keywords=mini+tablet+windshield+mount

and if you dont use your cd player, this thing is pretty good too http://www.ebay.com/itm/ExoGear-Exo...-7-to-8-Tablets-and-Smartphones-/390968293381.

And here is my set up for settings, which I found to work the best
Settings then Guidance-turn Clearturn display off, its more confusing than helpful
Turn off speed limit audio warning, its never right, just watch the signs
In Route-Truck Routing Profiles-Enable ActiveRoutes, National Network and 53 ft trailer. Uncheck International BORDERS OPEN if you dont go to Canada. Also click on Custom Roads & Speeds and set freeways to Strongly favor and divided highways to Favor.(most important, after I did this the app gives excellent routes)
The best Map display I found Minimalist to be better looking, especially at night.
But again, dont blindly trust it. Also Use Google maps satellite view on your smartphone to find your place, it works really well. Especially if you are at your destination street and cant find the building. Copilot is often off by few hundred feet

their suction cup is very strong, like a glue strong. In the package you also get a 3m sticker if you need to use it

BESTBUY HAS NO CLUE WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT.

the acer iconia tablet was the first to come out with gps. they wouldn't sell it to us after an argument that you DON'T NEED internet connection to make gps work. to this day. NONE of the stores have heard of gps apps. that work without internet.

we came home, placed an internet order to another store and got the tablet. needless to say. the gps chip was junk anyways. a year later i bought teh same model. no workng gps.

i've been using copilot on a sprint samsung note 2. used it for a year roughtly UNACTIVATED. had it reactivated about 6 months ago.

Apples iPad was released in March of 2010, I bought the cellular version with GPS. Unfortunately I gave up the cellular feature on my iPad Air. As much as Apple charges for their tablets all models should come with GPS, that's a crock but also a different story.

Ive read about some GPS issues in the Nexus 7. I'm not sure if it was only the 2012 models or maybe it was the 2013 models. I remember seeing it mentioned in a few different articles while doing research.

Until Basarab mentioned the issues with the high def displays I was all set on a Tab3 or 4. Last thing I need at my age is tiny print due to the dense pixel count on an 8" display. Decisions, decisions.

2013 nexus 7 had GPS issues, it would constantly lose signal. All 2012 have rock solid GPS chips, but some early release models had battery problems
