    Yes any time SWR or static goes down when you touch wires that's a grounding issue. Your body is becoming the ground plane.

    Not to revive an old thread, but I finally got around to testing this, and BINGO, you guys were right. Alligator clips mounted to the radio bracket and down to the metal on my passenger seat....static went away for good. I'll have to figure out a permanent solution...I appreciate everyone's feedback!
