I spoke to a mechanic today and he said you should do an overhead every 100 thousand miles. I asked 2 other shops and they both said you shouldn't do it until you need it it's going to make things worse. Which is correct?
When to do a overhead run?

I do it once a year(~100K) on my ISX. It can't hurt anything except your wallet, if it wasn't required.
magoo68 Thanks this. -
What does the owners manual say for your truck? My 2015 freightliner owners manual says every 100k miles.

It won't hurt a thing, every 125k is what we do.

When your oil samples indicate you should do one....not until.
-
I hope you are doing oil samples (the ones that actually go to a Lab). It is only $18.00 You will be e-mailed the results. I do a sample EVERY oil change.

The 2016 FL didn't have anything in the manual for overheads. And i was the first driver in that truck. The 2012 never got one done either. While i was in that truck.

My 2016 & 2011 freightliner DD15 both said to do it at 150,000 & then every 500,000 after that.
