You stated it better than my early morning mind did, Otter. I agree with your statements, especially regarding reducing jobs. Minimum wage is for those just starting out in the work force, not for families to make a living on. I'm not saying everybody should get a minimum wage job and go to school, but everybody has to start somewhere (again, not sure my point will come across as I'm trying to say). I started working at Wendy's for minimum wage when I was 18. I got some experience there, then moved in to an office position, not much more than minimum wage, but I proved myself and got a raise. After 8 years there, I moved in to another office position that paid much better, based on my experience. I've always moved up the pay scale with each job I've had. Back in those days (early 80's), I can't even remember what the minimum wage was; seems like it was maybe $4.75/hour, but it was a way for me to begin learning how to manage my money, having to buy my own personal hygiene items, etc. It was never intended for me to make a living on.

So.... I have missed days... maybe a week of postings... was going to read it all and post my pics last Monday and Tuesday when I took my 34 at a service plaza in PA but the site was down... so... now I am back in the rat's race and no time.... I am on my 6 load with this new co. Before my 34 I ran about 6,600 miles and after my reset and delivery in PA, got this load... p/u in MD and now going to UT... Yeah baby!!! I love the road out here... So far, so good... Was going to park at a TA in IL... but why? It might be crowded and I didn't want to be blocked in when time to leave. So, I parked at a nice rest area with no possibility of being blocked in.... Leaving at 3:30 am to take advantage of the mpt roads... tired of this traffic and construction slowing me down during the day....
Here are some pics from a week ago...

Parked at a very small rest area on I-70 CO near Avon... left under a beautiful full moon....

Tried to take pics of this beautiful road, CO-114 but missed the best opportunities.... It started straight but then.... so many sharp and tight curves... had to go 35 and 25 mph....
    :biggrin_2552:

    Curve to the right....

    Curve to the left....

One curve was almost a complete circle... Unfortunately couldn't take a pic of the sign....:biggrin_25513: Fortunately I was the only truck there....:yes2557:

I was on a road like that (well similar in twists and turns) in AZ on US60 through the River Valley.

Trying to remember what I did today. Oh yeah, to start I took documents From Murphy Shipping to the 15th floor of 3050 Post Oak Blvd. Then got the trailer to take 1660# to Cargolux. Then picked up a 2400# tote with Class 8 Hazmat and took it to a little hole in the wall place off I-10 East. Then to Baytown to get an 850# Electric Motor. Then to Jacinto Port to get a box going to SDV. By then there was no way to get to SDV before close. Dropped the Motor near the office. Got the office to pay me some money for fuel and groceries.

Brought the box on the trailer home. Regular dispatcher won't be there tomorrow. And the guy that will be dispatching is just this side of useless.....

Well, we have another KCMO contract, a large one, that requires running I435 E. This is a brand new salt dome, and a large one. We back inside it to dump. However there is a downside to this location. It's located just on the other side of the railroad. Loaderman said that trains will stop, blocking the crossing for a long time.

Arrived back at the yard around 4pm yesterday. Then spent about 2 hrs shoveling the gypsum, it stuck and would not dump. Plus the wind was blowing so that made it much worse. With gyp you have to string it out, it doesn't dump in a neat pile.

Have doc appointment this morning, then I'm to haul rock out west. Got a pic of my new truck with "my thing in the air" while dumping, rather shoveling, the gyp. It's my new sig pic.
