He is a company driver, not an O/O or L/O....yes they are his boss. The company has set the rules for him and the rest of the crew to adhere to.
The first quarter that Swift changed to fuel solution routing from open fueling, the company saved over 350k in fuel cost. That was back when diesel was going for close to $5.00 per gallon. Just one example of a scenario not seeing the picture from coast to coast.

 

And looking at my EFS card control app there is a pilot in Las Cruces that I would bet dollars to Donuts has the same fuel price or very close for Western Express that would save him time and fuel.

I am also a company driver. Aside from the loves in Sweetwater, I fuel where are my app shows we get the biggest discount. For my company it happens to be ta and Petro and then some other smaller stations when there isn't a TA or Petro around.

The EFS card control app will literally show down to the tenth of a cent difference in price per gallon. So if the pilot in Las Cruces is $1.81 a gallon for instance, and the pilot in Anthony Texas is $1.82 a gallon, how much money does the company save by having him go I believe it's 60 miles out of his way to get fuel?

 

It doesn't matter. It's the company's truck, the company's fuel, the company's rules. Doesn't matter if it makes sense to you or anyone else. Doesn't matter if it's the dumbest thing ever thought of.

It's their truck, their money that's paying the bills, so guess who gets to call the shots?

That is what your company does, not his. Advising a newer driver to go against company policy is not a good thing to do. His company has their way of doing things, your company has theirs....difference(?)...two different companies, two different sets of rules.

 

That 80 some odd page covid thread.....wow. The blind faith some have in our leaders is just down right scary.

One guy straight up saying he doesn't care about your rights at all. Won't say his name but here's about all you need

To reply to the guy that said that I’d say a lot of people seem to forget there’s a cost for freedom, in this case it’s having the freedom to not wear a mask and the cost is potentially getting someone sick
