Well, 700 won’t do it for sure….!!

 

Made a cheap delivery in Silsbee last night and it was after hours too. The guy who handles the loading and unloading lives next door to the plant and I got lucky because they stopped receiving trucks at 200pm and I rolled in at 530pm. Super nice guy. I tried to pay him something and he declined my offer.

I had to switch trailers today and park the step deck for a little bit. Flatbed rates are better than step deck rates right now so I decided to go skateboarding again until the rates come back up. I was still able to maintain a decent rate per mile at 2.86 per mile for all miles but I was having to fight for that. I got a load of pipe from Womble going to Parker, Colorado at $4.25 per mile. I think this load was originally on another truck and something happened so I'll take the better rate anytime.

This is why I still do my own tire, unless it's a Emergency.

 

Apparently the concrete companies are who set the schedule now. They called a week ahead and tell you "see you in the morning". Not that I have anything to do. But when a buddy calls for help, you just show up. Not bad for amateurs. Been a few years since I played wirh crete. Hope it's a few before I do it again.


And a nice reminder why I drive truck.
