Did any LTL companies get rid of all their manual trucks yet?

All? Probably not. What are you afraid of?

Fedex Freight as far as I know isn't buying any new manuals. But we run trucks till they are dead. There are still some old manuals around. As far as I know they will not hire anyone with a auto restriction.

They changed it a few years ago, we now take drivers with an auto restriction. I've heard they're even letting drivers in the apprentice program choose to learn in an auto.

I left Dayton Freight Lines 9 years ago, at that time they had been purchasing auto-shifts only for 3-4 years, so by now I’d imagine any manuals still around would be spares.

Didn't know that. But for what they charge for the appreciate program these days. If they quit of course. I think I'd get as much out of it as possible.

    jmz Thanks this.

Only boat anchors now at my outfit.

Now we can hire more non-driving idiots.

That is the one of the biggest drawbacks on today’s ‘modern’ trucks; the quality of the ‘driver pool’ has diminished over the years. We have more ‘drivers’ but far less ‘operators’.

PaulMinternational and MACK E-6 Thank this.
