I am very interested in becoming a truck driver but I don't want to put myself in a worse position than where I am now.

I looked at a local Sage school but I can't afford to just pay for it or finance especially when there is no guarantee of a job.

I have full-time job and part-time job that my wife and I get by on but I am sick and tired of these two jobs. Truck driving seems like it might provide better financially and I just love driving in general.

So far, CR England has told me they will send me the bus ticket and I will have a job when I complete training, however, I have to lease or go team. I am not interested in team (besides the 13 cents/mile) and definitely don't want to lease.

Driver Solutions is working with me and trying to get me in with USA Truck. From reading on this board and some other internet posts neither CR England or USA Truck seem to have great reviews.

I am looking for company paid schooling and good pay after training with plenty of miles. I actually look forward to OTR so I can see the country.

Any suggestions on what company paid school (and subsequently company) would be best?

The big problem I have read with so-called company-paid training is that if you bail within the first X months (could be 12, 24, 36, etc.) then you end up owing the company some amount of money.

Even CRE isn't company paid - you're into it for at least $2000 if you pay in full at the beginning. If you stay for at least 3 years you get $1000 of that back. If you finance it you're into it more like $3500 or more.

I think everyone would like company paid training and good pay with plenty of miles. :)

I agree with Statikuz you may be better off getting a loan to go to school. Most schools will even help with financial aid or a stafford loan which you don't have to start paying back untill you finish school and it is ultralow interest rate. When you are looking for a school always ask "what companys hire out of here?" Then talk to those companys before you go and have something in the works. Some company schools are good but if you bail early you may pay more then if you went to the best school. Or If you go to a company school and you have a contract with that company you can't leave even if you are only bringing home $300 a week home. Now it is costing you more in missed revenue then just getting a loan and keeping your opions open as a marketable driver. Talk to the schools and the finacial aid people.
