    Just wondering how alot of these people get sent home in the middle of school? I dont want to be one of them. Dont they do backround checks and everything before you go to class?

    They might do a little background check, but the way the companies view the situation is that they are going to be sure who shows up for class before they spend the money doing the background checks. I went to orientation for one of the sorry mega truck load carriers a few years back and witnessed men who had traveled several hundred miles to get there and then day after day I saw man after man being told that they are not needed. Just because you were told to come to school or to orientation, don't think for a minute that you have a job.

    They said my driving record was good. All I had was a fail to signal within 3 years so i know they pulled that. I have no dwis or arrest of any kind. My credit is messed up now but thats about it that could be wrong. I did everything that was asked from so far paperwork wise. Maybe i am just worried. Also i am in perfect health and dont do drugs so i am not worried about that part.

    Credit can matter, to certain companies.

    Being fired or Let Go from a job can also hurt your chances.

    If you have a phone interview, how you present yourself can matter.

    Your overall appearance, and how you carry yourself at orientation can matter.........

    I attended the Swift Academy in Millington TN,, the 1st day they do physicals and drug testing,,that's where most leave from(check your blood pressure BEFORE you arrive),,the drug test is just a piss test,,no biggy.
    We only lost one guy the second week there(due to a medical background check),,only reason was he failed to tell them about some back surgury he had 7 months before.
    We had several people that had felonies there,,they were up front and Swift worked with them.(they are STILL driving for Swift)

    Bottom line,,just be upfront and you'll be ok.

    Well i feel a little better now. I have never had any medical problems. Hell if they will take guys with a felonies i should be fine. My blood pressure is good i just had it checked last week to make sure. I already forgot what it was. I am almost 6 foot and weigh 205-220 depending if i am try to put on size or cut down. I also am kind of a large frame guy. I am hoping to get on a flatbed.

    grnberet31 I see in the other thread you made they lost your medical info. Did you have to bring your medical history or something? If so how do you get it? I havent been to a doctor in over 10 years.

    No, before I went to Swift Academy,I had already taken my DOT physical,(which was a waste of money),they give you their physical no matter what.
    They did lose some of my info(shredded) at orientation though,,but It got all taken care of thanks to a few calls to certain people,,lol

    The Swift Academy is by far one of the best ,,as I've seen alot of so called "truck Driving Schools"and they just don't really stand up to the instructors at Swift Academy,,,,(Hooah to Gary,,Dee,,JV and Greg)
    BTW,,if you are fortunate enough to get Gary and Dee for range instructors,,Tell them I said Hi and thnx,(Gary will know who your talking about,,lol)
