I would want you to pull more too at that rate. 15% plus what ever he is making off the load another 7 to 20 percent, or they have a employee finding you loads off the LS board, that are going to get cut twice. The LS agent will take 10 to 20 percent or more then this crook will take another 15 percent.

He may also just be grabbing loads off boards , loads that are never on LS board and double dipping. 30 to 40 percent ain’t bad if you can get it.

Land star has two load boards. One for the drivers leasced on with them and one for owner op's.
The first one all the leased drivers can see the rates. Minus 35% ( Land star fee) And the second there no rates. How the second one works is. The driver sees a load calls the agent and they dicuss or negotiate rates. Land star fee for this is Usally a flat fee but some times could be a percentage.

So if you wanna hall for land star. Just join the second load board and cut out the middle man. I get loaded off the leased side. And have seen prices flux between 2.20 a mile up to 7.50 a mile. From 60 miles to 1900 hundred miles. Usally the shorter runs pay more. I don't know if thats Usaul as I drive for a bco. And do not own the truck.

Edited for grammer and autocorrect junk

not correct, the LS board for their leased trucks shows the rate at 100% of the total billed to customers. LS “fee” is not 35% for everyone,
The broker board does not show rates and is available to anyone for no charge.

    Sirscrapntruckalot and Bigwin123 Thank this.

Landstar pays their bcos % of the line haul. 65% for the Tractor. A % for the trailer if you own the trailer % depends on the type of trailer. My understanding is there are still few well seasoned bcos running under an old contract that has a different pay schedule.

Gotta be kind to those with a wealth of knowledge earned by experience.
Also I don't know when the contract was updated. But if it was within the last 20 years and a bco was 21 and signed on just before the change they would be younger then myself.
