My guess is that Flatbeds sits the least, then tankers, then Reefers.

    Vans sits the most.

    My assumptions.

Curious what the rest of you think.

The question shouldn't be about the "least" rather, it should be in regards to the "most" and making the $$$$....

Ask Ken about his H2O truck, the couch time, and the $$$$ rolling in....:biggrin_25525:

    luni and Ken Thank this.

It's been my experience that sitting depends on where you end up. If you play your cards right and get loads going to where your equipment is needed, you should sit very little.

    But in my experience....
Least.... Tankers. This is extremely specialized and usually you are set up when empty for another load.
Two... Reefers. Everything from dry to temp sensitive freight. Food, produce, medicine, etc. People gotsta eat!
Three... Flat bed. I seem to run into a bunch of these guys stuck in all different places.
Finally... Vans. So many van only companies out there. In this day and age there is only so much freight to go around.

I sit very little with tanker. Trailers are dedicated and head back to the terminal when empty and often have a preloaded tank to go out the next day . I stayed moving more with hopper bottom though . I always had another load lined up when empty . That paid less though because there was more deadhead and lower rates. My weekly take home on tanker is usually more than I grossed on hopper bottom and I'm home more .

I pull a reefer and I rarely sit. My litle brother pulls a flatbed and he is lucky to do 2000 miles a week right now.

You're also an owner op. He's not. I offered to help him buy a truck but he doesn't want to do it right now.

I only was thinking Flat having more jobs because I see so many loads for Flatbeds-only on the loadboards. With so many Flatbeds loads waiting to be delivered ,you would think Flatbeds had more then enough work.
I agree with the tankers being the busiest.
I never sat when I was with Stevens which are reefers. But because the drivers are paid such low wages, it probably was easier to get loads.

That's a good point. Loadboards are mainly for O/O.
