Actually I think those are about 10 years old but they didn't get worn much until I started needing to use truck stop showers.

My last job before becoming an O/O was with a company that ran in that 40-100 fleet size range and they frequently used brokers and spot market to move us around. Probably a lot more than they wanted to.

We have 2 of our own trucks running on the road, along with 3 owner ops under our MC. All on the spot market. No dedicated lanes.

Hmmmm so this article picked a small sample size of Carriers to determine that all fleets of 40-100 trucks have direct shippers. He asks, "Who is really hauling spot market freight?" My answer is, "everyone."

Spot market can be good if you have patience and know trends. I did good sometimes and horrible others. But then again I like local and regional work. $550.00 to go 25 miles $1,600.00 to go 140 miles hazmat totes empty at that. I watch that damndest board like a hawk. I see the trend on what time of the day that load is usually gone then if i see it again I need way more money to move it. The brokers at coyote were my favorites.
