Why do bulk haulers think it’s acceptable to clean out wherever?

You could bet your bottom dollar they would certainly not do that if they were carting gold bearing ore for processing.

 

If you're employer won't pay for a washout, then I guess ya need to tell them ya can't load your next load until they make arrangements to properly dispose of it. An now we're gonna go in circles a little bit. Cuz the proper place to dispose of extra product is a truck wash that will accept it, dispose of it in their drains or dumpster an wash out the trailer. Other than that the carrier needs to foot the bill for proper disposal by any legal appropriate means necessary. Ex: Landfill. Now if it's a reefer with extra food product, some things can be donated to a food bank. Some things can not be donated due to potential lawsuits for handing out bad food that say someone could get sick from. The whole notion of people talking about selling it out the back of the trailer is nonsense. Who has time on modern e-logs to stand around a truck stop trying to sell rejected product for who knows how much time it would take when ya gotta get to next load. Just pay the truck wash the extra cost for product disposal an carry on. An I know for a fact ya can do that cuz I had to dispose of multiple pallets of ham steaks at a blue beacon cuz my carrier required photo proof of product being properly thrown away by the beacon employees.

Most washouts I’ve been to have you open your hoppers outside before you pull into the bay, then they go out later and clean up their concrete.

 

Did somebody change a few trucks' engine oil in the parking lot?!? Report that to TCEQ, that is absolutely unacceptable.

And just for the record, most of us "oilfield trash" would never dream of doing something like that.

 

I had 8 cases of frozen pork shoulder roasts the reciever refused. I took 2 roasts as a "driver tip". The rest I took to the closest fire station. It was my understanding the firefighters made pulled pork for the crews.

 

No you don't dump it on the ground anywhere except the shippers. If they overloaded you ask them where they want it, most will have somewhere for you to unload it. If your going down the raod with it then your stupid, same as any othe load, don't leave with it. As far as food product that a reviever does not want that your dispatchers problem. I have given food away in truckstops to other drivers, soup kitchens, etc, after checking with dispatch. I have take the overage back to the shipper as well (at IWX drove a lolad of broc back to Salinas).

As far as bulk products. most of the time the outage is because some idiot thinks they have retain that will affect there next load, If there is not a clean out required and paid for, then I load on top of it, I do not ever dump it on the ground for someone else to deal with, If I see a driver doing I take picture and send them to CHP or the approate agency. I live here in the desert where dumping runs wild, and do not take it lightly. I have a section of my property were I let a few drivers I know clean out, but only sand, rock ot diatamous earth. used to let let dump top soil but that got oput of hand real fast.

 

I will stop when in my Pickup, and shovel up sand and gravel off the shoulder, because leaving it makes all look like pigs.
