Speaking of pigs, which is more likely?
-a hole cop with a chip on his shoulder is looking for reasons to harass decent, had working drivers
-a hole driver refusing to trip plan, feels entitled to park where he wants and dump his garbage on the ground
Guys, if there’s a law, there was a moron causing problems. Who’s fault is this?jdchet, Toomanybikes, tarmadilo and 8 others Thank this. -
Hence my comment on pigs. All you need to do is watch someone dump a ton of feed. Or half a truck load of crap on the road once to understand why. That or someone ripping the side of every parked truck on a ramp open or rear ending one.
That said dispite my generally being pro cop
My answer to your question is yes.Ddh77777, hope not dumb twucker and TripleSix Thank this. -
No matter how well I do, I will be judged according to the standard set by the bottom end braindead disgusting POS that barely qualifies as human.
Can’t blame the cops for this one.Toomanybikes, tscottme, TurkeyCreekJackJohnson and 8 others Thank this. -
because they have absolutely nothing better to do and they get to flash their authority in a situation that is safe for them to doLast edited: Apr 7, 2026

It all depends on the cop and the ramp. I park on ramps fairly often. It's not always feasible to end a day earlier just to find parking. Trucking is 24/7. Parking on the ramp isn't always due to poor trip planning like many others say. Sometimes its a necessity. It ain't that simple to just say all trucks belong in the truck stop. The idea is to park on ramps that have less traffic. You're less likely to be bothered. Some states come unglued, like Wisconsin and Nebraska but both of those states have a lot of parking options. 85 can be a pain to figure out parking, but it will behoove you to explore on Google maps for adequate truck parking. You also want to keep your eyes peeled for hideout and side streets. I've got places all over the country to hide and sleep. That comes with experience. 85 from Montgomery all the way to Petersburg has decent options, but still not consistently enough for the amount of traffic through there. If you do park on the ramp, hopefully you have an understanding officer. I'd rather take the on ramp ticket than to drive sleepy and crash and have bigger problems.Numb Thanks this.

What is sad is every trucking company out there has those same pos braindead truckers. Every other truck that I pass has a phone, tablet or laptop on their dash and are watching some video while going down the road. When I first started driving in '97 I thought half the drivers were idiots. More like 90 percent now. I drive the northeast 5 days a week, what I see in those five days boggles my mind. I have friends that are lawyers' doctors and schoolteachers. They ask me what truck drivers are. I say scum of the earth. Not all, not here to offend anybody. But I tell you what the industry has really gone downhill. Every law that we don't like, every rule at shippers and receivers is because some brain dead steering wheel holder effed up. I watched a forklift driver fall out of the back of a trailer because braindead thought he was empty. Guy went out in ambulance with a broken back. If you only knew the hatred I have for the majority of the people who hold a cdl. Every night running the northeast confirms it. Drivers out here don't care anymore, if I dropped dead headed into the Truckstop I am sure most of the window lickers would just walk on by. Rant over, sorry if i pissed anybody off. This post is not directed to anyone on this forum. It is how I have always felt about trucking.motocross25, jdchet, Hammer166 and 12 others Thank this.

Nine years OTR, never once have I parked on a ramp for a break, etc. Trip plan, ABC backup stops and you won’t have to either. I invest time in where I’ll be shutting down each day, research, read reviews, look at map, satellite etc. always find something.

A few weeks ago one of our drivers was parked in a legal truck pull off about 20 feet from travel lane . He got rear ended and lady said the sun blinded her before they loaded her into ambulance. Most likely on the phone but it shows you can’t trust any vehicle not to hit you unless there’s a divider or ditch between to lessen the chances .
