How much? I believe that the larger rotator booms extend beyond 40'.
The problem with that system I would guess is the overall weight, but I may be wrong.
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

just talked with friend who knows about wrecking trucks, he says rotators are most common in france about 50of them, they weight too much, cost twice as much, in germany only one by his knowledge, because they see it as mobile crane and require operator licence. he says in general there is no need for them except in very dense traffic to use less lanes, and in mountains to get better position
spsauerland, Cat sdp and AModelCat Thank this. -
I'm not a wrecker guy but I've worked around large mobile cranes a lot. I know they tolerate very little in terms of off-center pull and they do not like shock loading. If a chain slips or if the part of the wreck that's being pulled on comes apart, that would be considered shock loading. Around here (can't speak for other regions) that pretty much constitutes putting the crane OOS from lifting until it is inspected and re-certified. They take crane safety extremely serious around here though.
spsauerland and Oxbow Thank this. -
They charge many US dollars per hour here for them .... so the price tag to purchase them doesn’t matter......probably 700,000usd and up.
Pulled this off google..... it must be true.

Vrachtwagens van 54 meter staan vast op toerit A15 bij Rozenburg -
Around here most cranes are run by union operators. They are good, but it is a "union job". When a wreck needs cleared and road open is not time for union politics and breaks.

You can get within a meter or two of that truck.......
Surprised I know what a meter is......?medioker and spsauerland Thank this. -
Winching capacity is more important than Lifting Capacity.
The rotator can do this without having to Block the road to get in winching position like a Normal Wrecker has Too.
