for normal trucks we have 7kw/t that means 381hp for 40 tonnes truck, before old law required 5kw/t that means 272hp. heavy haulage has 4hp/t which is idiotic first because it is expressed in hp not kw, hp is not officially allowed to be used as measure, just as advertising second with very heavy loads it makes some limitation.

so here heavy haulage companies had to use some extra truck with no reason just to fill with those stupid laws. this truck is not attached to combination but drives behind, not even fitted with counterweight....

g2 k600 can load 600tonnes whole transformer is maybe 900t but they dont send it in one part even this is big challenge for shipping. whole combination weights 1000 tonnes. just on limit what two MB trucks can do.

in china they use MB trucks too of course. these are 8x8 in this case gross weight of about 800 tonnes.

I have driven truck through Monticello numerous times. It is not at all flat there.

The company hauling is aptly named.

The Utah transport wasn't a 900 tonne load either. the actual transformer consisted out of two parts, almost equal in weight, and together they had a weight of about 1150 tonne.

This is the main road to the windfarm, the trucks came from the direction shown. The dirt road going the right leads directly to the windfarm.

So you show one picture of the route and assume the entire route is flat? Where did this load originate?

    SAR Thanks this.

This picture was taken in the direction of Monticello, and there's not a hill or mountain at the horizon. So it's pretty flat there.

I'm afraid you are mistaken. From Green River to Shiprock one is constantly going up and down, with some steeper grades.

Again, where did this load originate?

    SAR Thanks this.

I'm sure, but that is more from the north-west of Monticello to the east. This was from the south to Monticello.

I answered that question in bold.

    Elevations:
    Thoreau: 7100
    Gallup: 6500
On highway 264 west of St Micheals: 7700
    Ganado: 6500
    Round Rock: 5300
    Rock Point: 5000
    Jct. 191/163: 4500
    Bluff: 4300
    White Mesa: 5300
    Blanding: 6100

While I am unsure of the route taken between Thoreau and Blanding, any possible route will be similar. There is 3400 ft. difference between the high and low elevations.

Anybody that considers this flat and that there are no grades between the two locations is not being honest.
