We gotta get the mods to make a trucker enthusiast forum so we can get this back to solid facts and first hand experiences

All 3 drivers went back to EU trucks at the drivers request.
A lot off room but not enough comfort.
Biggest complaint was noise in the cab while driving.
Aldough i understand that things have changed a lot in NA trucks.
In general the owner was not unhappy by them but they were a little more expensive to maintain then EU trucks.
Reason was '04 Macks like to "eat" their turbo's.
In the latter years off ownership off those Mack's he found the cheapest solution was to put a new turbo on every year..
And that adds up in $$ or €€.
08 Volvo with a Cummin.(780 model i think but not shure)
Driver loves it.But did a lot off changes.
Friend off his is engineer and helps him.
And some on TTR concider a Volvo more a EU truck then a NA one.
You decide for yourself how you view that.
Then the Pete .
I spoke a long time ago to the owner off a working Pete in the EU.
Pete with a Cat.(pre 03 truck so pre emissions engine)
Just like @Cat sdp loves.
He hated it.
Called it the biggest pos he ever bought.
He did sell it to buy a V8 Scania.
And no, i'm not being biast.
Those were his words not mine.
Now there is a '16 KW T880 running locally.
It has a ................(drumroll).............. @Cat sdp ,better drink a double whisky at this point ...........................................MX.
Allison transmission.
Owner loves it.
So a mixed bag off responses by owners and drivers .
And noone are from the internet.
They are real life. -
daf105paccar Thanks this. -
That US regulation contains detailed rules about all kind of components that are used in the brake system. And now you claim it would be possible to build an entirely different brake system, with completely different components, and expect it to be legal because it is a better system. Please take a minute to think, and I'm sure you will understand that this can't be the case.
Let me give you a few examples.
On page 11 of that European document you will find paragraph 5.1.3. , in 5.1.3.1 you will find the standard set up (pneumatic supply line + pneumatic control line) , in 5.1.3.2 an electric control line is added, and in 5.1.3.3 the pneumatic control line is omitted, however that paragraph is not active yet, because it is awaiting the complete technical regulation for this set up.
In Annex 16 (page 172) of that document you will find the data protocol used for the electronic communication.
Do you really think you can 'just' install these things on a truck without proper provisions in regulations ?? -
This is how on this side on the big pond we haul such a small transformer:

once they really cope with one they realize they dont like them.
there was 1998 western star 4942FX 5km from me.
truck was bought from germany it was one year old. in germany it was used to pull foodtank semitrailer, i have somewhere photos from factory, photos from first owner, photos from owner here (chemical tank), now truck is owned by famous circus from berlin it pulls semitrailer with animals, it was seen here several times.
driver did not like it, due poor comfort and turning radius. in 1970s and 1980s we had about 400x mack f700 and maybe 50 of r600, nobody liked them, but they were lot cheaper. back thenOxbow and daf105paccar Thank this. -
if you hang it in between(due height) than you get lot more of dead weight due bridge, second truck is must no matter how much is weight, you are mixing apples and oranges
