It was, I was impressed. I've been driving mid sized Cats all this time and these Detroits held up pretty nicely. Decent mileage too. But when I say he took the egrs off, he took everything related to the egr off. Even fabricated parts where he had to to bypass what wasn't there anymore. He didn't mess with the computers though, other than turning them up a little (not enough...for me anyway) so the egr programming was still there. I think they would have done better without that.

OK. Somebody please explain the infatuation with movie themed murals on euro trucks.

The American drive-lines are good but the whole thing is not as well put together.Things come loose and need tightening up.Its basically all the bolt on bits from compressors to mounts to propshaft and suspension items. They are also not as robust especially on poor roads this is evident. The bolt on bits are however simple to fix and "cheap" because they are often parts used by multiple manufactures.

They ran a special at launch where these could be had for under $100 000-00

Bob,it isn't allways themed from movies.
But except on shows you won't see many.
As freightprices have gone down thanks to our cheap Eastern European "friends",less and less money is being spend on painting trucks.
All white trucks with a few decals slapped on are becoming the norm.

I should posted pic and replied to eariler comments ,my bad as i am on a trip with little time to browse my biz is based in Dubai and run all over arabgulf states. Its true mercedes truck assmebled locally and spec extrem condition and they hold well , but the selling points is. Cheap affordable spare parts that . And cheap labour too, instede of buying 120k$ new truck , u buy a used EU truck for 20-30k and rebuild it from the top buttom. For about 8k and repeat that each 5 years , weight limit is 45 ton max, speed limit vary betweenv80-100 km , a little more and radar camera will make u pay,
If you see the future of trucking industry , u might spot a trend of going to Asian makers, Isuzu and Hyundai making some of the best truck now days in term of QUALITY.

found old photos in our house in bosnia, many of family(and truck) photos are lost during war when we move several times from 1992, i am trying to collect as many as possible of truck photos

2x mercedes ng(orange is probably 2635 , blue is 2626 with v10 engine (fitted in 1987-resulted with several times broken input shaft in gearbox) , and Man f8, unknown model , we had more of them so cant remember, there was blue 281 with 361 engine and fuller gearbox, there was one orange all 3 were 4x2 tippers with 3axle drawbar trailers, i am kid at right of picture
    [IMG]

Man f8 30361 and same mercedes from above , with kässbohrer trailer -air tipper, we had 3 of them this one was 6.8m long
    [IMG]

mercedes ng 2632 S from 1979 bought brand new as tractor latter converted to tipper , price new was 116 000dem with 5th wheel and hydraulics and additional 90 000dem for customs , trailer is most probably Blumhardt complete from aluminium-as aluminimum does not go together with overloads it was destroyed (at this days 90t-200k lbs was common on trucks)

cat 930 , wheeloader , it was 1977 my father bought is as 2year old , photo somewhere in early 80s
    [IMG]

another kässbohrer trailer , they were not very popular because air tipper , and they are cheap , no quality this is product for the masses, real german trailer is half stronger than this
