those trucks suffer from traction problems a lot they are too heavy on front, here in my region 2axle tippers with cranes behind cab are very popular , since here it is very soft ground plenty of problems you can stuck 2-3 times per day, this is especially problem it this is large truck ( i mean truck with 12L +/- engine not with 6-7L and light cab, this brings almost 1t more weight on front axle

some of those trucks have even 9t on front when they have heavier crane

so here you need front wheel drive

in southern part of country , ground is much harder, no problems with this but some of them like front wheel drive to spread traction force because of rocks which cut tires,

Who cares? I ordered regular drum type, even no ABS on front axle (saving $1500). For 10 years I never met a situation where I critically needed it. So I think I will not meet it in the next 10 years. Why pay more for nothing or almost nothing?

I remember a magazine commercial of a number of years back advertising OE brand brake pads.
Is was a picture of some skid marks on the road surface leading up to a smashed barrier where a vehicle had obviously smashed through and plunged down the cliff.
The caption read "The good news is he saved $200,00 on the purchase of inferior brake pads".

Disc brakes are better , performance wise no doubt.
I find they are also quicker to change disks on.
I think that once they get common in the US you guys will like them.

I remember similar commercial showing disk saw in DVD tray saying "pirate discs are damaging your equipment".

Nobody argue. There is only question of a price of such improvement. I found it useless to add $1500 to final bill for front axle ABS and few more hundred $$ for disc brakes just to be in trend with fashion.

For my driving pattern I managed to do 800,000 miles on original pads across 48 states all terrain. So there is no big deal how quickly to change them. Anyway it is going to wear quicker due to truck weight, etc. F.e for 7 years I never changed pads on VW (75,000 miles), but was forced to change it prematurely on Audi (30,000 miles). Same manufacturer, same type of brakes (disc), same drive style, same drive patterns, just different cars.

There is no talking about like or dislike, there is talking about necessity or reasonableness. I like all latest technologies only when somebody else is paying for it. :)
