I'm curious how a driver can harass you with his horn for a few miles when you are supposedly going 10 m.p.h. faster . Just how far ahead of him were you before you cut back in his lane ?

Some people just have no clue! "Truck Parking" does not mean your pick up or SUV.:biggrin_25512:

I pulled into a rest area in AR. The car side had a bunch of open spots and when I got to the truck side two 4 wheelers was parked side by side. One of them was across the line. They was taking up 3 spots. I saw them. One was in the car and was at the passenger side of the car talking to the other driver. They looked at me and I swung in the spot beside them. I pretended that I did not notice that my trailer was going to go over the top of the car (it would clear, but the spread was going to do a nice crush job when it rolled over the car) You should have seen him steppin n fetchin to move the car...:biggrin_25523:
I have seen other rest areas where the car side was almost empty and there would be a car sitting in a truck spot yackin on a cell phone.....

Well "a few miles" is an exaggeration. What's happened to me before - most recently this past summer as I was driving across Ohio, although this has only really happened twice in the miles I've traveled - was I had switched lanes before I pulled up behind the truck. I was doing about 70 or so, then merged in front of the truck - with plenty of space (about three cars distance) and using my turn signals.

I look up, I'm well clear of the truck, but a few minutes later this guy is right on my tail and starts blaring his highway horns. Keep in mind I'm still doing roughly 70mph.

Being in a small compact, what do I do? I get the hell out of his way! I might be a typical New York City driver, but I know better than to try and stop a full truck. So I merge to the left lane, and what happens? He slows down.

W-T-F, man. So I get back in the right lane, and a few minutes later, he's back riding my tail and blaring his horn. I finally decided I had enough of that and got off at the next exit, besides there was a Cracker Barrel there ;)

Now, it's not like every truck does this. Like I said, I've only ran into a situation like this twice, and the other time he backed off after the first time. I'm guessing either stress or some truckers like to scare the ever loving crap out of 4 wheelers for kicks.

That was definitely rude and uncalled for.

Best practice to follow when lane changing back in front of a semi is to wait until you can see the grill or headlights of the rig in your rearview mirror. I don't remember who taught me that one, but that has always been my method of judging when to move back over. I also use the same rule with other cars.

    Whip a wiggle wagon . . . scary!

I drove them things a couple times during my training. It was an interesting experience. I didn't mind it really, but that was on dry roads with no snow, in the south. Don't think I'd want to drive those things all the time though. Too much work. That's one reason I ruled out flatbed when I got my CDL . . . too much work. That, and the tarps weigh almost as much as I do!

The 1st time I pulled wiggles. Before qual comm. and cells. Made a drop at customer. Call your company . OK. They tell me ( I was in OH can't remember where dayton I think) Drop your trailer and go to this yard and pick up a trailer. (This hub is closing or going under something.. maybe road-way.. can't remember) We bought some of their trailers. Bring trailer back. OK. I get there it is wiggles. I call the boss and tell him I have never pulled wiggles. He told me just don't look in the mirror.:biggrin_2554:

Oh, that's just wrong! Don't look in the mirror? Just don't make any quick or sudden movements is more like it. The only good thing about them is they bend in the middle. Hooking and unhooking is a royal pain in the backside. Can't back them. I prefer one trailer myself.
