Petro claims not to allow four wheelers on the big truck side, and has set aside places for cdl drivers to eat only.
But ####, I don't know what the deal is with old people and truck stops. They get all pissed off if the fuel jockey doesn't take their $16 for fuel right away, or they jam up the fuel desk being dumb on how to full their rv.
Gramps, don't get snotty if they ask you for your truck number at a truck stop in the big truck fuel island. -
COUGH!
GASP! I've just squirt coffee out my nose!
WAIT! There's more. First, you ask for the pump number and they say #2. When you say, "That's the grade of fuel we sell, & a sticker listed on every pump," they get angry..... Then you are sometimes prompted ~by the credit card swiped~ on the fuel side to ask for truck number... (maybe even mileage, trailer number, company name, ID number, Drivers licence & licence plate number and state. It's not malicious, it's the stupid computer..)
Explaining as kindly as possible that we know that they gave us "$16.00 cash" but on the truck side, it opens up the pump, and they could fuel as much as they wanted and drive away, and it would be our BUTT if it was a drive off... SO... Then you finally get them set up. 3 minutes later they come back in all upset when the slave pump alone does not work for them. You get a maintainance man out to fill them. Then, before they leave, or even move, they come back in and complain that the diesel from the fuel island did damage to their carpet. There were days I felt that I could NOT WIN!
Thanks for the laugh!

A grumpy old trucker was being very rude and crude with a young lady at a pilot one day, I lost my religion with the jerk! He did apologize to her after that!

RVs belong in a campground, not at a rest area. Tennessee troopers started writing tickets for this last year, we are MANDATED by the DOT to take breaks, and, that's hard to do when people who want to tour the country are too #### cheap to do it the right way.
Just my two cents. -
The reason breaks are mandated by FMCSA is to eliminate fatigue . RV drivers get just as fatigued and there are far fewer campgrounds than truckstops and rest areas . On weekends and during peak camping season there may not be spaces available at campgounds . Many rest areas prohibit overnight parking or limit parking to 6 hours or less . Others designed over 20 years ago have spaces that are too small for a rig over 60 ft. long . I wouldn't care if RV's took all the rest area spaces .Maverick Thanks this.

I think more states should have commercial truck parking areas like TN. Just add restrooms..pls. As a female driver its hard to pull into a rest area late at night when every spot including ramps are taken just to run in for 2 minutes. Too bad that the "reports" show there are plenty of truck parking spots. Guess they dont see what we do........
-
It's not our problem. I plan my trips, if they can't do the same that's on them. There are too few truck parking spots available as it is. Limited to 6 hours, when is the last time you saw that enforced? That's why, i just take up about 20 car parking spots when there are a bunch of RV's taking up the truck spots, maybe they will get the hint, huh? -
I'll tell you what's worse than RV'ers . The morons that come in when the rest areas are full and park in the lane behind the row of trucks . Then they climb in the sleeper and 4 or 5 hours later 3 or 4 of the trucks they parked behind left and they are blocking those spaces .
-
The problem isn't the RV'ers parking in what you perceive to be the trucker's parking area. Most rest areas direct RV's and trucks to the same parking lot. They're simply following the directives posted at the rest area.
And as far as you taking up 20 spaces in protest, remember -- two wrongs don't make a right. Doing so doesn't help your image... or that of your fellow driver.
