Why does diesel cost more than gasoline?

Every day I hear someone complaing about high gas prices.I'd like to see them pay deisel price then they'd have something to complain about.I often wonder how companies can keep afloat and make a nice profit with deisel skyrocketing the way it is.

 

Diesel is in greater worldwide demand at this time especially in the Indian and Chinese markets. More demand = smaller supply = higher cost. Its that simple.

 

Higher taxes = higher gas prices = lower consumption!! If you have noticed, when everyday prices were lower, gas prices would always 'jump' during holidays and vacation time. Now, since prices are at an all-time high, prices miraculously DROP at holidays and vacation times!! All in the name of increasing consumption.

 

Here in Chicago diesel is less than gasoline, But thats not saying much,The station near my house is, 87 Oct is $4.35 and Diesel is $4.19. Pretty soon they will start producing what they call winter blend and prices will go up even more

 

I would like to know... Why? Why are we paying this ridiculous price? Is it because no one can or will stick up for ourselves or each other? Are we scared? Trucks run the USA. Why aren't we fighting this? We could shut down the USA. Seems like everyone is too greedy to do so. I for one would be more than willing to shut my truck down for a day, a week, a month whatever it would take to get things back under control. The USA is no longer UNITED. There is no longer the "American dream".

 

in the US the gasoline prices are run a great deal by the government demand, at the insistence of the environmental wacko lobby, to not only load up the fuel with ethanol in the summer, but producing dozens of blends in the winter to lesson the smog and crud. If the government would stop meddling in the markets then the fuel prices as well as the food prices would drop right off.

 

Well, that and if there weren't several billion Chinese, Indians, etc. that are all trying to become middle class like most Americans have been for decades.

Trying to reduce a complex problem to one cause doesn't serve anyone.

 

not to worry, the North American middle class is disappearing before our eyes!!!
Soon we'll be making running shoes and jeans for them.
