One of the hardest things as a trainer (in any field) is remembering how much a person just coming in the field doesn't know.
Like you said "He doesn't know what he doesn't know." and it takes a bit of time to even learn the proper questions to ask.

Yes this seems like a silly question, but I'm sure I had worse.

    TripleSix and Awara Thank this.

CDL schools barely teach students to back a trailer, let alone shift while pulling weight up a hill in slick conditions. Backing, shifting, hill climbs, driving on any road that isn't dry are all actions of an "outlaw".

Drivers that do what was in the video learn it by listening to experienced drivers and practicing. New drivers are told 1) don't do it, or 2)just watch a YouTube video.

    Awara Thanks this.

    I think you’re right
It looked like it was downhill but
I noticed the frame torquing up from the engine . So maybe it was uphill .

    Awara Thanks this.

I thought it was steeply uphill. It did sound like a jake brake when I heard the video but the cab is being torqued over as the sound is the loudest.

    Awara Thanks this.
