is that how it is supposed to work? or is it because the switch is likely broken? I Guess i did NOT try that... dont want to buy a new switch only to find out i have to do the same balancing act on the new one.

Why not put a simple extra on/off switch on the dash?
If there is no current going to the system........then the possible faulty switch cannot active anything. -
Hand in your MAN card if you are going to resort to reading instructions

At least at out fleet those switches are junk. Always causing problems.
You can fiddle with it until you find the right exact spot, but good lock finding that spot again while driving down the road.
My suggestion is buy two, replace it and in 100k miles when it starts acting up again replace again. Did I mention I hate those switches and they are junk?
