although I've done it, I've always wondered about hauling crap that to me, is not really secured.

you don't carry enough straps to hit every bag.

That is in the category of freak, but totally preventable accident.
The woman who died is just about the unluckiest person out there. 2 seconds one way or the other ....

Her time. I know, sounds harsh, but what other explanation? What are the chances? Astronomical. A better chance of winning the lottery. Reminds me of a time, at a drag racing event in Phoenix, a spinning tire came off a dragster, ( at 250mph) bounced like twice and into the pits. A woman walking along with her son, enjoying a day of drag racing, the tire hits this woman SQUARE on the head, killing her. In our society, as much as we'd like it, we simply can't have zero risk. We can cheat destiny for a while, but checkout time is checkout time. Totally unrelated to those punks that threw a patio block at a womans car windshield, killing her. THAT'S a different story.

I am 100% on board with that one. they not only killed one woman, but went back, took pictures. AND they had done the same thing in numerous other locations. Talk about "depraved indifference", the legal term in question.

How close was the car following ? Those bags don't bounce very well.... My guess the car driver was bumper humping

Did you even look at the article? A truck rolled on an overpass and the car was driving underneath.

I knew some one who was driving along and a car went off an overpass and landed on their car as they were driving on the street below and killed them .

    just a bizarre accident .
I saw one a few years ago where the transmission fell out of a big straight truck and killed the driver of a car that was driving nearby .
And the transmission was not cargo on the flatbed of the streight truck .
It was the one bolted behind the engine .

That sort of thing doesn't just happen overnight. How many indicators does the operator or owner of the vehicle have to ignore, major noises, clunking etc before they actually stop operating the vehicle and see what is going on?

Just like the original article, freak, but preventable.

even straps that hit every bag is not going to keep it together in a rollover. the pallet is going to break
