    Read an article recently about a guy in California that won $55 million.
    He moved to another state, bought a modest home and inexpensive car.
    Kept his mouth shut and never told anyone including his sister that he didn't get along with.
    He was asking about some financial advice about a will.
    The financial advisor told him the smartest decision he has made so far is not reveal he is worth $55 million.

    I know in some states, their lottery rules require the winner to be willing to appear before the cameras, you can’t just show up at lottery headquarters, in disguise and quietly disappear with the booty.

    Some states will allow you to remain anonymous. Others like Louisiana will not protect lottery winners from public access to tax records etc. You can sue to to not be forced to publicly announce your winnings etc.

    I understand some people end up with issues & problems from lottery winnings but its because they dont seek experienced financial & legal advice & follow that advice. You cant go from $50,000 per year average Joe to a multi-millionaire with out advice & a plan.

    Just because someone hands you a diploma in Cardiology doesnt mean you can run out start practicing heart surgery.
    Just because someone hands you a check for $37 million doesnt mean you can just take it & start living the high life.
    You need some experienced guidance in either case. Otherwise, you're going to find yourself full of trouble & problems...... possibly found in you home dead.
