    Question:

Is it a good/bad idea for a inexperienced Trucker to buy a used truck like off Ebay or elseware and become an Owner Operator after formal TD School?
Will a company hire a new-be/worm driver with a good overall record and past employment
as an Owner Operator with only 2500 miles under his belt ? Please concur....

Thanks, A Liberal with a Shotgun

Bad idea. I would suggest being a company driver for 3-5 years to learn the trade. Very expensive learning when the cart is in front of the horse. You will have a problem with insurance. Not only yours, but whoever you hire on with. Not to mention the freight you will be pulling. I would hold off. Good way to go belly up and you might find out that you don't want to be a trucker when you get the taste of it.

first.............what's a "worm driver"...........?? a driver that hauls worms.....???

and no, do not go out and buy anything bigger than a 40 channel cb radio. this way, if you really don't like driving, or the lifestyle, you'll only have to sell that used radio. try selling a used truck, ain't gonna just happen overnight. get your experience first, especially since winter is still here with us. one accident, and you're in financial bankruptcy real quick.....

What is a worm driver? Montana is great for fishing!!!!

Right now at this time I would not suggest anyone buying a truck. It's hard just as a team the way the fuel prices are.
I suggest you drive for a few years getting some safe miles behind you. I also would never ever suggest anyone lease a truck from ANY company!!!!!!!!

If you do decide to get a truck without the experience, get a loan from your bank and purchase your truck.
The main thing for anyone who is interested in purchasing a truck right now is to do your research first.
Most o/o are not even aware of the Federal Lease Laws that protect their rights as an o/o. I have talked to many that didn't know there were laws to help them when they sign a contract.
There really is alot to consider when becoming an o/o.
    Good luck in researching
You will need to find bobtail insurance, have money for fuel, tires, oil changes, and your monthly payments.
