Would you cross a scale with this:

    for $10 a strap,a driver crossing a scale like that is really stupid

    I'd say that's entirely up to the DOT officer. As a general rule ANY sort of cut from the outside of the strap means the strap is garbage, but inline abrasion like that is up to the DOT officer. The one driver is right, straps are cheap.

    Avoid scales as much as you can remember we have guilty written all over us driver.

    If you threw another one right beside it you would be better off to take that one off. They will not give you a break on a bad one just because you have more than needed. I personally wouldn't cross a scale or even use it, not because it won't handle the load but because I don't want the harassment that could come with it, on the other hand I have seen straps in much worse shape than that, and the ones running them never seem to get caught. I ain't that lucky.

    I've always kept my straps in the box, or wait.............that was before I got caught for unsecured load! In AZ, that strap would get you a ticket...I'd change it. Happy trails!
