As far as a 1099, while some states may vary (I only know Tennessee) y’all are full of crap on the tax issues. As I’ve never worked for a w2...only 1099...I suggest if your that worried about it call your accountant. But...I’m sure 99% of you are accountants, fmcsa employed, doctors and lawyers

Right, the FMCSA doesn’t care if you break EPA regs. It’s not their place to enforce those. Same as the FMCSA doesn’t really care if you delete your engine.

Just talked with the recruiter. They pay 45 cents a mile and it is 1099. So that is maybe equivalent to 41 cents a mile (which is what I am making right now) payed as a w2?

Route will be something like from Kodak Tn to Detroit Mi, Atlanta Ga, and some place in Florida.Home for your 34 hour reset most weeks.

The positives are I will no longer be chaining and strapping down flatbeds since their main customer is swaggerty sausage company, they are about five miles from my home, and I get the convenience of paper logs.

I do not really know if it is worth it or not. I will go and see the place and hopefully be able to talk to some of their drivers before jumping on board here.

What do you guys think?

That .45/mi 1099 will equate to about .31/mi if you consider your Fed Tax, SS/Medicare, and some type of Workmans Comp Ins.

I decided to just stay with my flatbed company, things have gotten a lot better with them including a good dispatcher who is a former driver and a 55 cpm guarantee in pay.
