BS! Companies are still shutting down and/or cutting back on certain things.

Maybe some companies are but there’s others that are busy as living. Hell…

If they’re busy then someone tell my employer to:
Reinstate the holiday pay they took from us 4 years ago.
Reinstate the 401K matching contributions that they stopped 2 quarters ago.
Get rid of the Smart Drive crap they put in the new trucks.
There’s some other grievances I could bring up but that’s for another time.

Sounds like Marten has some mismanagement going on… from my understanding, Randy’s not there anymore is that correct? if that happens to be the case that could speak volumes as to why the company is not like it used to be

Last I heard he’s still the CEO as well as the owner. Tim Kohl was running things from 2021 but he retired last year, after which Randy took the helm again. There’s been a few changes in the past few years. I’m on my 6th fleet manager now. My last previous 3 fleet managers were promoted or transferred to other departments (mostly planning).
The company has been in a state of flux.
We sold our intermodal division to Hub Group last year for $51.8 million so for the most part we’ve been focusing on truckload and dedicated accounts.

But like you stated, the company isn’t the same it was 10-20 years ago, quite a few of the older hands here shared that sentiment-and then some!

Yes, it's early in a recovery.

    Be patient.

    Give it more time.

    A recovery needs more than say, 30 - 60 days....for every carrier to feel/see a meaningful improvement.

All I know is at night heading east of Denver on 70 you can see a lot of derricks going up. Also in the area they are hiring like crazy for tanker drivers for the oil field.

If you look at the market the spot rate for flat bed is $3.77 cpm. So that means they’re building stuff. In 2008 I was at FedEx custom critical we couldn’t find a rate higher then $1.30 cpm. Also there was absolutely no one hiring. There’s a lot of jobs right now. Maybe not for rookies but an experienced driver can find work.

    $3.77 for flatbread?

    Glad I pull a van ;)

$4-6+ should end the month just shy of $40k..
