The only person that cost DD his job is him. I'm sure there is no where in Marten's policy manual that is says it's ok to hold a camera and drive. By the way, he said its no different than holding a cell phone, well I think CSA took care of that. You are a driver, it is your job to drive and do it safely, not to hold a camera, talk on the phone, text, email, yank on your wankee, type on the Qcomm, etc. Do all that stuff when your not going down the road at 65mph.
WTH is "Deiselducy" on Youtube

What this guy did was STUPID. You don't go down the road holding the steering wheel with one hand...I hope it's atleast one hand...and a video camera in the other. And in a company truck yet. He got exactly what he deserved. He was on an ego trip. These people put themselves on youtube and think they're freaking movie stars.

Thoughts I had while watching the last video...
So...he WASN'T making YouTube videos or "being unsafe"?
I'd like to say 'thank you' to the guy/gal, as well, and I hope s/he feels great about him/herself, as well. This makes my job safer, what with having some goob that thought shooting video while driving without the benefit of a tripod wasn't "unsafe"...
He should quit whining about the Greyhound trip. Maybe if he talks real pretty to the Greyhound driver, he can shoot video of the ride...and this time he can pay attention to the shots 100%!
My guess is the caller DOES have better to do than babysit "professional drivers", but decided that SOMEONE needed to cull the herd.
I doubt that Marten cares how "strongly he disagrees with the 'situation'"...and he's right. They don't have to believe all they hear, but when you post proof on the internet...well...duh?
Umm..."byeeeee" *tongue waggle* WTF??? And that was necessary THREE times in the video??? I've only caught bitty bits of his other "art"...where he's driving the highway with a truck on one side and a car on the other...is this tongue thing a REGULAR part of his "routine"? Disturbing.
Sidenote: just because he goes "back to the railroad" doesn't mean he's a paid employee...trainspotters/trainstalkers are common. I know a couple guys who have unnatural fetishes for all train related.
I'm up to the THIRD time he's thanked the caller....
And this yahoo was really an OTR driver? Niiice....
I think I need a shower now...I feel like I stepped in something warm and squishy. -
I wouldn't say he has a mental disorder... but he does have the "ever growing" addiction of Youtube, texting, and the internet taking priority in his life over everything else. To him... getting the job done is meaningless. All that matters to him is that he has internet access and his camera works.
I don't care how bad an employer is... you don't play around on the internet or create Youtube videos on company time. NO employer is going to put up with that kind of behavior. There's plenty of time to do such things after working hours.
In his videos he tries to blame whoever turned him in for being fired. All he has to do is look in a mirror to identify the real culprit. He brought everything upon himself.
He certainly has a "crash and burn" work ethic. Start working for a company... do as much damage as you can do... and "jokingly" move on. He will never get anywhere with that attitude.
I really like how he throws his Qualcomm around in one video. If I worked for Marten, I'd fire him for that reason alone. I absolutely can't stand people who don't respect their employers' property.
KansasWhirl Thanks this. -
