The pintle eyelets on the trailers I've pulled and/or built swiveled... Think of it like a great big eye-bolt secured into a piece of pipe with a rubber bushing between the pipe and the eye-bolt (pintle eyelet) to give slight cushion and make swiveling action very stiff... So stiff it requires a good 4 foot cheater bar to swivel it by hand. The pipe is the part that is welded solid into the tongue... Not the pintle eye.

I’m surprised he was up and telling reporters how the small packages cushioned the impact. Most would be on a stretcher to hospital $$$$ including Me since they still owe Me $250 TONU

When you say pintle I go back to my dumptruck days where it's a welded flat plate of a certain geometry to the back of the frame at the tail lights. On there is a monstrously grotesque half ring also welded on. You can put 12,000 pounds of whatever you want on that ring. Usually in form of a beaver trailer with a small paver and backhoe on it.

I suppose if you made a pintle big enough, way bigger you can put a dolly and trailer on there for pup.

So in essence we have a drunken trucking abusing his tractor and flopped over at least one of the pups for payment to abuse of it.

Could also be the idiot had the heavy one in the back, and he was just too lazy to scale it before he left the yard.

Bud A. and x1Heavy Thank this.

I’m assuming that since the rear most trailer is going to be the lightest trailer it’s not going to have as much effect on heavier parts of the combination.
