    Article from the Truckers News
    Truckers News Staff (TN)

"One of the trucking industry's leading research organizations has staked out its priorities for this year.
The American Transportation Research Institute's Board of Directors recently approved 2021's research priorities as identified by its Research Advisory Committee. That committee developed the list of recommended research topics at its meeting held in Atlanta May 4-5, and the ATRI Board reviewed and approved the list of recommended topics at its recent meeting."
"ATRI lists its top research priorities as:
    • Understanding How to Best Integrate 18-20-Year Olds into the Trucking Industry.
    • Charging Infrastructure Considerations for Electric Trucks.
    • Marijuana and Other Drugs: Impacts of Decriminalization on the Trucking Industry.
    • Quantifying the Impacts of Driver-Facing Cameras on Fleets and Drivers.
    • Understanding the Environmental Impacts of Zero Emission Trucks."

I would read it with a grain of salt, knowing the ATRI is not an independent entity. ATRI is the research branch of the ATA. Studies like this seem to skew the results toward the ones that the people paying for it want.

You are correct. People paying for studies want facts, and studies have an annoying tendency to deliver those ###### things.

Name 1 good thing the ATA has done for drivers. Not the companies or government?.
I guess It depends on the driver perspective as well.

See Supreme Court case ATA vs. City of LA, wherein the ATA got citywide environmental regs voided. Next question.

Yeah I remember, but only because the mega #### box fleets we’re getting hammered for fines because they were to #### cheap to put apu on trucks and drivers were to ####ing stupid to turn trucks off

Nope the suit had nothing to do with APU's or idling. But it did have a lot do with which drivers were allowed to work the port and how complex their application process was.

I can read this two ways
    1. Follow the money, people with an agenda tend to fund studies that generally end up proving what they want
    2. Studies tend to yeild results to be looked at as facts uncritically

I agree with the first, the second, that last word is the problem.
