For those who say this was an "accident", I say an "accident" only occurs when someone becomes careless or is outright negligent.
This driver should never have been behind the wheel, and I believe he knows that as well as his employer, which is why the sentence was so severe.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
Truckers calling for this drivers head should be careful. One day you may learn you’re not as perfect as you think and you could screw up or only have a split second to make a decision and make the wrong one.
Then don’t be surprised when the next head the mob is calling for is yours.bzinger, Trucker61016, Magoo1968 and 7 others Thank this. -
No mob was after this driver. He went through the court system like everyone else.Northern Nomad, striker, Gearjammin' Penguin and 1 other person Thank this. -

I’m just curious about one thing, driver claimed the brakes failed. Was there any kind of post accident test that could determine if that were true or not ? Or is that not possible because of the wreckage. He definitely deserves punishment but not necessarily serial killer type of sentence.
bryan21384 Thanks this. -
He passed two runaway truck ramps, obviously didn’t have the training or the common sense to properly gear down. Did he deserve 110 years probably not, but he deserves to spend at least 25 years.

If his CDL was illegal than I have no sympathy. Just want the company and the people who got him that CDL also in Prison if they had any knowledge he wasn’t fit to drive they are accessories.

I would have been happy with something in the 40's. This way he will get a good 15 even with good behavior and parole.JoeyJunk, flood and BennysPennys Thank this. -
There seems to be a tendency for sympathy because this was a young man that I don’t understand. Was this a mistake without malicious intent yes but look again at the results. People died trapped in car fires. The results of his negligence is so bad I think the sentencing was appropriate.
0ppenheimer, Gearjammin' Penguin, gentleroger and 3 others Thank this. -
110 Years is excessive. I hear what everyone else is saying, but the young man got a raw deal. I thought he would have got around 15 to 20 years. There are people that kill, with intent, that get less time or no time. I don't get it. He is going to be the fall guy because his company didn't prepare him properly. Why isn't his company being looked at as well? How he got his CDL, I'm not all that concerned with. He was ill prepared and his company needed to take some of that heat. I am all for accountability, but the system made an example out of him, and I'm of the opinion that it's a bit unfair.
