Does a new O/O need to qualify (aside from signing up and paying the fee) to get loads from Internet Truckstop?

IUse get loaded because our office has Internet TS. But they just PIZZED me off. I was going to cancel my subscription yesterday. I paid for a year to get the cheaper rate. They always had the PC miler map out to the right side for quick reference, now that has been removed and an add for their silver package is in its place. ($99) Guess whats included, PC miler with all the stuff that used to be free. You CAN still get that info for free but instead of having it at a quick glance you have to click on it and change screens. A PITA when you have slow connections like we sometimes do. In fact, I am going to call now and drop them. Transcore 360 is the best in my opinion.

They require a DOT and MC number to register at the website. You get both of those when you apply for your authority.

    Gears Thanks this.

guess they have changed it then. a couple of years ago all they asked for was your credit card number for payment.

I'm thinking maybe they would do that if you called. However, they have a reporting system for lame-duck brokers that dont pay so that may be a reason why they require your carrier numbers and vice versa.

Do you file a copy of your insurance with Internet Truckstop or do you have to qualify with each individual shipper or broker that posts a load on their board?

I guess what I'm getting at...can a shipper or broker view your qualifications somewhere on the board (authority, insurance, etc) or do you need to qualify with every shipper or broker you contact for a potential load?

I've heard some will not work with a carrier that's had their authority less than 6 months. I fall into that category too.

You sign up with each broker individually, it easy, they fax a contract to you, you sign it, send it back, then have your insurance company fax them an insurance certificate with there name and address on it (its an official document that verifies your insurance coverage and also lets them know the will be updated with any changes). Now all you have to do is sign the rate confirmations, which have all of the load info, rate, etc.

Internet truckstop does have a place to upload your documents, but its kind of useless as you will still have to fax them to the brokers. I keep a file with my authority, w-9, proof of insurance, and a summary of my business (phone number, address, etc.). I also scanned the to a PDF documents so I fax (online fax number) or email the documents to them.

I did not have a problem with the 6 month rule. I only had 2 brokers tell me that you had to have 6 months. My 6 months is not up until the end of sept. and I have about 20 brokers that I am signed up with. Its more the exception then the rule. I am signed up with UTI, CH Robinson, Landstar, Total Quality logistics, ICCI and they are some of the larger ones.
