Are we naive to believe there is driver shortage? or do you figure it's a factual phenomena? There's no shortage of products on shelf, no crazy amount of job ads looking for drivers. Things seem rather standard as with other industries. Covid or not, I'm leaning towards the surplus side, but change my mind.

    You're missing a 3rd option. Neither.

Huge Driver Surplus right now, my company gets 1200 applications a week, we're capped and not hiring right now.

Also a huge surplus of ABSOLUTE #### highway/OTR jobs, that no one in their right mind would ever do.

Hourly Day Cab company in Calgary, people will fight each other to the death in the parking lot for a seat.

The usual suspects (Bison, TransX, Day and Ross, Etc Etc Etc) never stop hiring, even if they don't have trucks! (all of the above, still have a 100% turnover rate, going on 30 years now).

RIght. So what we have is a surplus in the by-the-hour sector, and a shortage for underpaid, dishonorable, and dangerous OTR.

This is exactly what I was going to say. A shortage of good jobs, a surplus of bad ones.
